While it may have been my first time in the chapel it wasn’t my first time on Grenell as I had shot Kim & Brendan’s wedding there last year and they stopped by just before the ceremony to introduce me to their new baby!! Once the ceremony was finished and in true River fashion we headed over to the Antique Boat Museum in the Zipper for what would be a memorable reception (check the last image for a guest appearance by the Dance Biscuits). Children played a big role in the day and it’s always fun to see them enjoy themselves.

I absolutely love photographing weddings in the Thousand Islands, they are all unique in their own right and the people are beyond compare!

The weather was beautiful (and hot, it’s been hot all summer) and the location was perfect! I have never seen as many flowers at wedding than what I saw at Erinn & Chad’s wedding, it was floral overload! Boo from the Farmhouse Kitchen was on hand as well as The Bob Cooper Band. The Photo Boothique was onsite providing guests a fun way to capture the evening’s festivities. The guests were treated to an impromptu musical performance from Chad and some of his friends (maybe they will get the band back together) and at end of the night we were treated to a fireworks show put on Erinn’s dad!

In fact a skiff that once belonged to Paul’s mother is currently on display. When I found out that Jessica from A-List Artistry was handling make-up I knew that Mia was going to look beautiful and she did not disappoint! Ormond Entertainment was on hand to provide the entertainment and Boo and her staff from The Farmhouse Kitchen (one of my favorites!) made sure that everyone had a great meal! Margaret (from the ABM) had the yacht house looking it’s absolute best! We had a beautiful day and the weather was great too!

However yours truly was unable to ride with them as I was in the chase boat with the wedding party (which was a former champion offshore racing boat and pretty sweet in it’s own right!). I loved the fact that Graeme and his groomsmen wore kilts for the wedding to honor his Scottish heritage (way cooler than tuxedos). The staff at Joey’s TI Club did a fantastic job (as always) and Kommand Performance was on hand for the day’s entertainment! Grey’s Flower Shop made sure that all of the flowers were perfect and Jamie from Pink Door was on hand to make certain that everything ran like a well oiled machine!

It’s been a few years since I’ve shot a wedding at St. Cyril’s and I had forgotten just how hot it gets in that church! St. Cyril’s is actually built from stone that was blasted from the exact spot where it stands. After the ceremony we headed to the family’s lakeside cottage in Clayton to knock out some photos there. Finally we were back on the road to the Edgewood Resort for the reception.

They let me in on a little secret during our visit; Justin was taking break dancing lessons for their first dance. When I heard this I knew that it was going to be good.

The weather wasn’t looking so hot to begin with (thunderstorms & rain on the way up) but as it has been the case this summer it manages to clear up & turn into a beautiful day!

High school friends, awwwww!!!

She’s such a cutie!

I love the expression on Devon’s mom’s face!

These two (and me) were pelted with (foam) tennis balls & bird seed, it was just as much as a surprise to them as it was to me. I was still picking bird seed out of my hair on the way home hours later.

The Zipper from the Antique Boat Museum in Clayton, I’ve done a few weddings on that beauty.

He hasn’t fallen down, this was part of his whole break dance routine.

Don’t ask me, I don’t know what the hell it is either!

I’d like to think that they were toasting me . . . but I don’t think they were.

NOTE: the images in this feed have been downsized or removed for copyright reasons. To see them in their unmodified state, please view the original post by clicking here.

When Sarah told me that she & Chase were getting married on the river I didn’t think much of it because I shoot a lot weddings on the St. Lawrence. Little did I realize that when they said “on the river” they meant on “on the river!” as on a barge (which later became known as the Love Boat).

Sarah & Chase met on the river while working and spending their summers at the Minna Anthony Common Nature Center, however life being what it is began pulling them apart. But they weren’t having any of that, Chase moved to NYC so that they could be together (good move Chase!) & this is where the next chapter of their story began.

Both families (and friends) put a lot of time and effort into making this most beautiful barge on the St. Lawrence and their efforts paid off. Now with all of the planning and work that goes into an event like this failure (ie; rain) is not an option, we were getting married on the water. The plan was for all of the guests to attend by boat, essentially creating a flotilla of family and friends but the forecast didn’t look great that day. It was going to take more than just a little rain to stop us. Sarah’s dad was delivering her to the ceremony in a small outboard closely following behind me in the “chase boat” so that I could get some shots of them on the water. Well her dad was a little more determined than that, which resulted in some great images.

All in all it was a great day!
Many thanks to Sarah & Chase for allowing me to part of their most special day, I was truly honored.

I also have to give a huge shout out to my awesome friend Tammy Swales who tagged along with me! I wouldn’t have blamed her if she backed out especially after I told her that she would be in a tiny little boat in the middle of the river & that she would have to check herself for deer ticks once she got home. Thanks again T!!!
