erin & jim: bayshore grove, oswego ny

I met with Jim before I ever met with Erin which is a little unusual but they live in Long Island and due to a prior commitment she was unable to make the trip up. So as a result Jim & I chatted for a little while and then we went down the street to have a beer (with his mom & brother) and watch a bit of the Syracuse game. But before that I told Jim that I was going to tell Erin that I waited and waited for him to arrive but he never did and he said that would tell Erin that he did. We both agreed to play dumb (not much of a stretch for me) and let her marinate for a while before spilling the beans. When I finally had the opportunity meet with them both I knew that that this wedding was going to be one to remember! Now I had a feeling that it was going to be hot when they decided to tie the knot at Bayshore Grove in early July (because it’s been unusually hot all summer), I’m not a huge fan of the heat but I’ll take it over rain! Fortunately rain wasn’t a problem and it really wasn’t that hot (I’ll keep telling myself that) and we had a beautiful day! They also decided to have a photobooth which proved to be a big hit! A big shout out to my friend Erica for helping me out!!

gina + dave: senator’s mansion, rochester, ny

I met with Gina & Dave about a year before their wedding and was thrilled when they asked me to capture the day’s event for them. As luck and Mother Nature (flooding in Boston where they live) would have it we never had the opportunity to do an engagement session or even spend a little time together before the wedding (which I insist on because it really does pay off on the day of). However we were able to keep in touch through email and facebook and when the time arrived everything fell right into place. It’s so important for me to connect with my clients; to do something this personal for someone it’s a necessity.

When the big day finally arrived it looked as though Mother Nature was going to throw us a curve ball (again) but this time luck was on our side, the skies cleared just before the ceremony & we had a beautiful afternoon! Chris Steubing and his staff at Senator’s Mansion in Churchville did an awesome job! This place is beautiful and I really hope that I get the opportunity to shoot there again some time (he has an AMAZING camera room). A HUGE shout out to my very good friend for all of her help; Shavonne Joliee!!
At least Gina’s mom thought that I was funny.

Genevieve did a great job helping the ladies look their best AND she did it with a cast on her leg!

I love it when a couple sees each other before the ceremony, makes everything really flow later.

The rain had stopped just before we left, but I opted for the porch just in case.

It looks like someone was going to get the business, but they weren’t.

natalie & brian: lake george

Natalie & Brian chose Lake George for their wedding because they both love the Adirondacks! While it was pretty busy in town with all of the tourists we made it work & everything went swimmingly!

Taia Younis (and her team) of Inspired Occasions did a fantastic job organizing the whole affair and Martin Dodge of Drops of Jupiter knocked it out of the park with his floral design.

St. Baldrick’s Day 2010

Today’s 6th annual St. Baldrick’s Day was once again held at Kitty Hoyne’s Irish Pub & Restaurant in an effort to raise money to fight children’s cancer and I thought that it would be the perfect opportunity for a photobooth. So I set up my gear in the back and the “shavees” started rolling through. You can also purchase copies of the images from the day here (a portion of the proceeds will be donated back to St. Baldrick’s) and they are also on facebook as well. Be sure to tag yourself or anyone else that you might recognize.
(I’m happy to say that more than $320,000 was raised for this year’s event!!)

clare & trent: sadaquada golf club – utica new york wedding photographer

Clare & Trent are doctoral students at Emory University which just so happens to be where they met, you see Clare is an upstate New York girl and Trent is all Texan. St. John’s Church in Utica is where they chose to exchange their vows and the day’s festivities were celebrated at the Sadaquada Golf Club (which happens to be one of the oldest golf clubs in the nation). We set up photobooth at the reception in order to get some fun shots of all of the guests, Clare & her mom wanted an autumn flavor to the images and they did a great job locating some fabric that really fit the bill.

My friend John & I get the opportunity to shoot with each other occasionally over the course of the summer but with each of us getting busier with each passing season those opportunities are getting fewer and farther between, but I always enjoy it when we do!

This is how I found the guys, just a few hours before the wedding!

This may have had something to do with the situation above.

She wouldn’t sit still long enough for me to get a good picture!

St. Mary’s Mega Raffle

Last night was St. Mary’s Academy Annual Mega Raffle; which is the school’s biggest fundraiser of the year. I donated a portrait session for the auction and offered to set up a photobooth for the guests as well; it took a while for people to trickle in and warm up to it but once they did there was a steady stream. All of the images are posted here (password is: megaraffle) and a portion of the sales will be donated back to the school. These photobooths are proving to be a big hit at all sorts of functions (weddings, holiday parties, birthday parties); if you are interested in one for your next event feel free to contact me.
