teresa + brendan 1.7.17: hotel syracuse

It wasn’t too long after Teresa & Brendan met with Alexis at the Hotel Syracuse (and were featured on cnycentral.com as one of the first couples to book their reception at the soon to be reopened hotel) that I met with them, now we already had a little history considering I would be shooting Teresa’s brother’s wedding in May of 2016. So this was going to give us plenty of time to get to know each other and I think that it’s safe to say that we spent quite a bit of time together from her brother’s wedding, to their engagement session and then multiple visits to the hotel to discuss our game plan for the wedding day. Now not only were Teresa & Brendan having their reception at the Hotel Syracuse (as did her parents) but they were also getting married in the same church as her parents (Most Holy Rosary) on almost the same day. And to top things off she was wearing her grandmother’s wedding dress (as did Teresa’s mom). How’s that for repurposing? Though I had visited the hotel multiple times leading up to the wedding (in part because I was shooting the Mayor’s Ball the following weekend) I had no doubt that everything was going to be spectacular; from the bridal suite above the ballroom (which happens to be the best that I’ve seen) to the attentive staff everything was on point.

Kelcey from Silent Moment Photography was on hand as second photographer and my friend Kevin was there to help manage video for the day.

I have to be honest; I was a little sad when it was all over because I knew that our time together had come to an end, it’s not that I won’t see them or talk to them anymore it’s just that the end of a wedding is a little anticlimactic. They spend a lot of time planning and I spend a lot of time with them leading up to it so when it’s all done it’s sort of like you are breaking up (a little).

I wish them nothing but the best and I’m already looking forward to when our paths cross again.

I don’t typically write anything into my blog posts because it’s just not me, I prefer the emphasis be on the photos themselves and not a bunch drivel meant to boost my Google rankings.

However I felt compelled to just mention that when I met up with Caitlin & Martin for their engagement session the weather could not have been more miserable. It was raining, windy and cold. I was certain that we were going to have to reschedule but we opted to make the best of it. While the rain never really stopped it did ease up so we made our way to the Lincklaen House to grab a few quick shots and we were off to the Stone Quarry Art Park (where the ceremony will be so it gave us an opportunity to talk about the day itself). While the rain had stopped (sorta) it was still windy and cold but in spite of all that we had fun and still got some great photos. So I thought that I would share a few.
